Kitesurfing is based on weight distribution on the board and can be an ideal sport for those with loss of function, partial paralysis or amputation of the lower limbs.
The kite is flown from a bar attached to a harness so is suitable for those with loss of function, partial paralysis or amputation of the upper limbs.
Equipment can be modified to meet individual needs for example heel straps can be attached to secure feet to the board
The kite bar and lines are colour coded to aid aid tuition and handling for those with partial visual impairment and the ultimate aim of any kitesurfer is to become attuned to the feel of the kite and the tension of the lines rather than relying on their visual sense.
Marker boards and visual teaching aids can be used to aid those with a hearing impairment.
